To help us provide an efficient service, when you call or write please tell us your:

  • Policy number
  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • First line of your address and postcode

If you are contacting us because of a letter you have recently received from us please also quote:

  • The Letter Reference Number (found at the top left-hand corner of the letter)
  • The Billing Reference Number (if your query is about premium payments - for example B00000000).

Please Note: We can only give information by phone if you are able to complete our security questions. We ask security questions so we may check your identity as this is an important way of fighting money laundering and other criminal activities.

If you are not able to complete these questions successfully, we cannot provide any information over the phone. We may send the information you have asked for to the registered address on our records instead.

Evidence we need if a third-party is working on your behalf
Under the Data Protection Act, Windsor Life is committed to ensuring that client personal data is not given to a third-party without the client's written authority.

If you would like us to supply information about you and your policy to a third-party, we need you to send us a Letter of Authority. This should include the following policyholder information:

  • names in full, for example, Mr Michael John Smith
  • date of birth
  • address
  • policy number

and the following information of the person or company you have authorised as your representative:

  • name of an individual or company
  • correspondence address.

Telephone queries from Advisers and other third parties
If you are an Adviser or other third party contacting us by telephone, to pass our security checks you will need to confirm information about your company or business, as well as answering questions about the policyholder and their policy. You should also note that if we do not hold a valid Letter of Authority for you on our records we cannot give you any information.

How to tell us if you change your name or address

Change of Name:
If you have changed your name, please fill in our 'Change of personal details request form' and send it back to us. The form explains what other documents we will need you to send us. You can download the form on our commonly requested forms page.

Change of Address:
If you are moving within the United Kingdom, we can update your address over the telephone. Please contact us on 0800 073 1777 and we will ask you a few security questions before updating our records.

If your new address is outside the United Kingdom, you must tell us your new address in writing. Please remember:

  • to quote all your policy numbers
  • all policyholders must sign to confirm the change
